Construction begins!

I got my first sight of progress today! Demolition has finally begun!

I feel like we have been waiting forever for this process to start and to say I was overly anxious is an understatement. I think James is very nervous about this part of the process and I understand his concern-- we are tearing apart a completely lovely home that until last week we could have just moved into and enjoyed. But, as they say, we have to get through the dark to see the light.. so begins the next four to six week stage in the process where we literally tear down 75% of the house (walls, flooring, cabinets, bathrooms, concrete, roof, etc) so that we can begin building again. I know it will be tough to see the house that he loved change so much in this phase, but I think it will be wonderful (and is very much needed) for all of us to see the house evolve and develop into OUR home.

Here are the first pics of demo:
Magnolia tree removed to make room for addition
Bricks are removed from side of garage

Storage shed gets removed
Our builder, Bob with a can of 'Arsenate of Lead' that we found in the storage shed.
It was safely disposed of!
