Race to the finish

Several weeks ago we had a long conversation with our builder about our expected move in date-- October 13th. It's been a crucial date for us from the beginning for a few reasons 1) Katherine and Justin's engagement party is Nov 3rd and we want to be settled and ready to host guests that weekend and 2) my parents cannot come to help any later in October since my dad has some responsibilities that he has to be in Georgia to handle the end of October. So, during this conversation with our builder we were assured that we would definitely be in by October 13th. Mom and dad bought airline tickets, we booked movers, I told everyone at work I would be out of pocket for several days, etc. So, as we have learned during this whole process, things don't ever always go according to the plan. Now we are a mere 9 days away and it's literally going to come down to the wire for us to be ready to move in. To say we are nervous and anxious would be an understatement! I typically try to pray for "big" things, like health and guidance, but I literally prayed for an electrical green tag last night. I think we need all the help we can get at this point!

So, beyond for waiting for inspections to be complete and to receive our certificate of occupancy, there is still lots happening at the house..

Light fixtures look great and it's fun to see lights actually on in the house! It's the little things sometimes. ;)

Dining Room
The kitchen backplash which we designed, but weren't sure until it was actually in how it would look (kinda scary) looks really good.

Laying it out so the tile guys knew what we were talking about

Herringbone pattern turned out great.
And just when they finished the backsplash, the range arrived and fit perfectly. (whew!)

Viking 48" range- it's awesome!
As James said, "if you can't cook on that, then you just can't cook"
There is a really, really long story to go with the appliances finally arriving, but I am honestly so tired of dealing with it that I don't even have the patience to tell the whole story. So, here is a super-duper condensed version- appliances were supposed to arrive Friday, when they didn't, I called and learned they had given our ovens away to another customer (SERIOUSLY?!?!). Fortunately, after a thousand many phone calls and emails (and much frustration) they found us another set of ovens and they arrived only 4 days late. So, we have ovens and that's all that matters now.
Our ovens (FINALLY!)
Our fireplace stone was delivered to the house next door at first (right in front of the sign with their address on it), but a day later it looks beautiful in our house!

And we met with our landscaper and the plans look great on paper.. can't wait to see them in place. We are buying a truck load of sod apparently.. yep, a truck load-- like a flat-bed semi truck of grass.. that's a lot of turf!

So, we have 9 days to go and we just need absolutely everything to fall into place (no biggie)! We've begun packing our current house and with every box, I say another prayer for a green tag. By the way, if you wouldn't mind working us into your prayers tonight, we'd certainly appreciate it! :)
